Maskne, It's For Real
What is Maskne?
Over time, wearing a mask or face covering leads to inflammation and moisture buildup that can block pores and cause bacteria to grow and spread. Maskne is a form of acne mechanica that causes breakouts in the areas covered by a face mask – the jaw, cheeks, nose, chin, and around the mouth.
What Causes Maskne?
Numerous factors may lead to the development of maskne. The friction from wearing a face mask for extended time periods is the most obvious, but other risk factors for maskne include: Makeup, Humidity, Cold, Dry Weather, Stress and Sunscreen
